How Are We Blinded By Our Beliefs?
This isn't always going be an easy question to answer because, we
can still see.
Our lives make sense, because other people around us can often
convince us to believe we’re on the right path, but what if we
aren't.
When I was 12 years old I was a Christian and if someone would've
asked me this question, I really don't know how I would've
responded. Quite possibly I would've said what…”What are you talking
about, what even makes you think I'm blinded by anything. ”
Does this sound familiar?
If you’re a religious follower, reading this article right now, then
there's a real good chance, you could be reacting as I did, years
ago. You don't have a problem with your religious beliefs and are
probably starting to wonder why you're even reading this article.
You're comfortable with your religion and your pretty sure you're on
the right path.
If you believe in something that cannot realistically be validated
or supported by tangible satisfactory evidence, then you could be as
I once was… years ago. I believed in something that made sense to me
when I was 12 years old, because I didn't question it or maybe it
had something to do with the fact that others I respect it like my
parents also shared similar beliefs in God and Christianity.
Looking back I can honestly say that I was blinded by my beliefs,
because I didn't have any tangible evidence that would convince a
rational minded individual to believe in something, that could be
questioned and I mean questioned about practically every aspect.
If you have any doubts about anything you're religious or spiritual
organization professes to be the absolute truth, then you might be
blinded by your beliefs.
The perfect example of this would be to believe in an invisible God
or an invisible life force, just because others have convinced you
that it's true.
What about heaven or eternal life?
What about all of the rewards you will receive, during this lifetime
or the next?
I'm not about to make a claim that God doesn't exist or that you're
religious or spiritual texts are incorrect, but I am going to
suggest that you try and figure out why you do… if you actually do.
Do a little research into the origins of your spiritual practices or
religious beliefs and you'll probably be shocked at what you find.
The history of Christianity is littered with ridiculous claims about
things that might or might not have happened. Then we have
scientific blunders that were believed to be true at one time by
Christian leaders, yet no longer are.
That's right, the Earth isn't the center of the universe and if it
is, science has done a pretty good job eliminating the old myth that
the Sun revolved around the earth. Like I said, a little research
can open your eyes and free you from your beliefs.
