My Undetectable Relationship With God

This morning I was talking to my son who is and considers himself to be a faithful Christian. Even though he doesn't go to church or belong to a specific Christian denomination or even follow most of the rules set out by Christian organizations, remains a Christian.

In a nutshell, he's part of the Christian majority. He likes the idea of someone who's all-powerful looking out after him, yet isn't and probably never will be willing to make the required sacrifices.

He also knows where I stand as an anti-religious individual, yet continues to share with me stories about his undetectable relationship with God.

See if you fit into this category and share similar thoughts with my son and millions of other Christians all over the world.

1. You believe in an invisible God who you've never seen or realistically communicated with.

2. Anything that has happened in the past and anything that happens in the future will be for a reason, even though you might not understand what that reason is.

This type of thinking could apply to practically anything that has happened in your past or will happen in the future.

For example, if you get into a car accident, suffer financial difficulties or even develop some type of fatal illness, yet cannot understand why, you will accept it as part of God's plan.

No matter what it is or who it affects.

Let's stop here for a moment and try to figure out if we could replace the word God with Universal Being, Infinite Creator or even Santa Claus and come up with the same results.

Instead of believing in an invisible God who you've never seen or realistically communicated with, you can believe in an invisible Universal Being, Infinite Creator or Santa Claus, with similar if not identical results.

God cured me of this disease.

The universal creator cured me of this disease.

Santa Claus cured me of this disease.

What's the difference? You’ve simply replaced one invisible entity or name with another entity whose existence would be extremely difficult to verify.

Remember, the main theme of the article is an undetectable relationship with an invisible entity. Realistically, it won't really matter what you call this particular entity, especially if you've never communicated with it or have any tangible evidence to support this individual's existence.

As a matter of fact, whenever you use the word God, Jehovah, Jesus, Krishna or even universal power, without taking the time to figure out where this information came from, you're doing yourself a disservice.

You're no better off than someone who believes in something you might view as ridiculous, like a Sun God. The reasoning behind this is simple, because you're listening to and accepting information from someone else as the truth and in some cases as the absolute truth, when it might not be.

You would be viewed as the product of someone else's thinking and as long as they can convince you to believe, you will continue to believe or as some Christians refer to it as keeping the faith.

Were you paying attention?

Did you hear what I said?

Anyone who has an undetectable relationship with anyone, including God is the product of someone else's thinking and beliefs.

If you can't see it, touch it or communicate with it, then it would be undetectable. Anything that cannot be detected or viewed as tangible might not actually exist.

Now think about this, if something might not exist, then why would you spend your entire life believing that it does, without accepting the possibility that it doesn't.
