Religious Justification or Taking It Out of Context

If I had a quarter for every time someone told me that I personally took something out of context and should read more text to clarify something written in a religious textbook, I would quite frankly have a lot of money.

The fact of the matter is that I and practically everyone else has the possibility of misinterpreting information that they personally have not written and taking it out of context.

With that said and the fact that I accept blame and responsibility for information I have personally taken out of context, I would like to point out that it's your turn to apologize and accept responsibility for either claims you have made as a religious person or claims that you have accepted, without taking the time to figure out whether or not there was a possibility that your interpretation could be incorrect.

The only reason why I'm writing this article today is that I'm sick and tired of people telling me that I can find God by simply interpreting religious text correctly, like they actually have the ability to do it themselves.

Can you imagine the audacity, the arrogance of someone to suggest they know exactly what someone meant, when these individuals have been dead for centuries and don't have the ability to clarify this information in person.

For example, it's believed that the 10 Commandments could have been written almost 3,000 years ago and one of those commandments states clearly that “Thou Shall Not Kill.”

However it by itself does not provide followers with any exceptions or exemptions, making it easy to interpret correctly by itself and at the same time providing followers to take it out of context, when more information from other parts of the Bible has been gathered.

It's a simple and easy statement to interpret and realistically suggest with a high probability that believers of these instructions, rules or laws should not kill, under any circumstances, otherwise any exceptions to the rule would have been stated clearly in the same verse or listed next to it by the omnipotent and all-powerful provider of them, to eliminate any chance of confusion.

For example, if it said thou shall not kill, except when attacked, raped or for food, then we might have something a little closer to what followers of these instructions currently do.

Don't get me wrong, there are other rules in the Bible that provide us with exceptions, but they contradict themselves.

The Book of Leviticus provides religious followers with a list of rules or laws that allow another follower to take the life of one of God's precious children, even though it directly contradicts one of the 10 Commandments, but if I read more Bible verses I will somehow be able to justify this obvious contradiction, I don't think so.

I just can't continue reading or gathering information that doesn't make sense to begin with, in order to make sense out of something that's easy to interpret in the first place.

Whenever I'm around a group of individuals who think they're right, simply because they're following the guidance of others who haven't taken the necessary time to gather all of the evidence necessary to make a rational claim about anything, I often wonder why.

How can I tell someone that they are taking something out of context, when I really don't know for sure and it would be difficult to validate with rational satisfactory evidence?

So the next time someone tells you, whether you're an atheist, agnostic, nonbeliever or believer that you're simply taking something out of context, send them a copy of this article.

The only way we cannot take something out of context will be to have the original author provide us with an interpretation or have everyone agree on a specific interpretation that can no longer be rationally doubted.
